Canadian citizenship fees in 2026: $653 for an adult application
As of March 31, 2026, the standard adult grant application costs $530 in processing fees plus a $123 right of citizenship fee. Verify the official fee list before paying.

Adults and minors
The standard adult total is $653 CAD per applicant. A standard citizenship grant application for a minor costs $100; minors do not pay the right of citizenship fee. Different citizenship services, such as a certificate or resumption, have different fees.
A family example
For two adults and two minors, standard grant fees total $1,506: two payments of $653 and two payments of $100. This example excludes documents, photos, translations and any other expenses specific to your application.
What changed in 2026
The right of citizenship fee rose from $119.75 to $123 on March 31, 2026. The adult processing fee stayed at $530. Older articles quoting $630 or $649.75 do not reflect the fee for a standard adult application after that date.
Pay through the official service
Follow the payment instructions for your application on Canada.ca and retain your receipt. Paying for a preparation website does not pay your government application fee. Our optional practice service is separate from IRCC.
Refunds
Refund eligibility depends on the fee and the stage reached. Processing fees generally are not refunded after processing starts. The right of citizenship fee is refundable if you do not become a citizen. Consult IRCC’s refund instructions for your situation.
